Bringing the richness of Masayan Culture to the people of LeicesterMasaya has a rich indigenous and colonial cultural heritage. Known as the ‘city of flowers’ it is the national centre for arts, crafts and folklore. Over the years a number of artists, musicians and dancers have visited Leicester to share their artistic talents and colourful culture. The LMLG also develops and runs a range of projects and events which focus on Nicaraguan culture. Cultural Connections Review Info,,,, Cultural Connections ProjectAs part of a large-scale community festival to celebrate Leicester’s cultural diversity, the LMLG is preparing a number of workshops and events to raise awareness of Leicester’s twinning links. We will be working with schools and community groups who will contribute to an all-day festival and an exhibition demonstrating Masaya culture will be taken to a number of city centre venues. By collaborating with other twin-town groups in the city and the county we aim to show how an increased understanding of different cultural traditions through town twinning helps to foster friendship between peoples of the world. |
