Something in Common

In 2003, the LMLG collaborated with an organisation which supports young people at risk of exclusion on a creative writing project aimed at making connections between teenagers in Leicester and young people in Masaya. The idea was inspired by a project in Masaya called ‘Youth Encounters’ which was helping to raise self esteem among marginalised teenagers by encouraging them to express themselves and work together to compile a magazine of poems, short stories, photos and drawings. A similar booklet was produced in Leicester and a translation was sent by email to Masaya.
